The California Primary Care Association (CPCA), Arizona Alliance of Community Health Centers (AACHC), Nevada Primary Care Association (NVPCA), Hawai'i Primary Care Association (HPCA), and Western Clinicians Network (WCN) partner each year to host the Clinical Excellence & Leadership Conference. This multi-day conference brings together health care leadership from across the region to focus on health center clinical and management teams with the goal of improving overall efficiency and effectiveness in care delivery. This event, in Newport Beach June 7-9, offers an ideal way to earn CMEs while networking with fellow clinical leaders.

Maximizing Reimbursement and Access Through Compliant CHW Billing in Nevada's Federally Qualified Health Centers

May 28, 2026

Thursday 10:00am – 11:00am PST

Community Health Workers (CHWs) serve as a vital bridge between communities and primary health care systems. Through tailored outreach, education, and care coordination, CHWs help close access gaps that contribute to poor health outcomes. They use their skills and lived experience to advocate for patients, navigate complex health systems, and connect individuals to needed services and resources. Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) rely on CHWs to effectively support and engage the populations they serve. In Nevada, CHW services are billable through Medicaid, making them a sustainable component of care delivery for FQHCs. Investing in and sustaining CHW programs strengthens access to comprehensive, high-quality primary care and improves overall community health.

After this educational session, participants will be able to:

  • Explain state and payer-specific billing requirements related to CHW services within FQHCs.

  • Apply CHW billing guidelines to improve reimbursement processes and expand patient access to CHW services within their organizations.

  • Identify and document required elements of compliant CHW encounters to support accurate billing and audit readiness.

  • Utilize a practical CHW Billing Playbook as an ongoing reference to support consistent, compliant billing practices for CHW services.

Intended Audience: CMOs, Medical Directors, Directors of Population Health, CHW Supervisors, CHW Program Managers, Clinic Managers, Billing Staff and Management
